The Rockin K Logistics Big Blocks were in action on Monday Nov. 25th for Rd #6 from Williams Grove Speedway. A total of 18 drivers loaded into the race server and posted a qualifying lap. Your QuickTime winner was the #141 of Giovanni Mungin. Mugin’s time was a 20.404, 2nd was last week’s feature winner, Kevin Hanley with a 20.485 and Garrett Boyd was 3rd with a 20.516 sec lap.
Heat #1
Would have Kurt Ney and Matt Westfall leading thing night off. Ney would get the early jump. Westfall, Mungin and Anthony Morano would battle for the 2nd spot for a good portion of the heat. Ney would go onto lead all 8-laps and pick up the heat win with Westfall 2nd and Mungin finishing 3rd.
Heat #2
Buddy Ware and Dylan DeWert Jr were the front row for heat #2. Ware gets the start coming out of 4 and leads the field to green. DeWert applied pressure to Ware and was able to get to the inside of Ware but couldn’t get the move to stick. Kevin Hanley was able to close in on these two and make it a 3 driver race for the lead by lap-5 and just as I say that, Hanley makes contact with the backstretch wall and spins out. No caution but dropped him back to 4th. DeWert would make the pass on Ware on the final lap coming out of turn 4 and pick up the win by just .041 of a second. Brandon Garman was 3rd, I beleive this was Garman first race of the season with the Rocking K Logistics Big Blocks.
Heat #3
Tom Ostendorf and Tim Nickles were 1 & 2 to lead off the final heat race of the night. Ostendorf with a good jump leads the field to turn 1. Garrett Boyd made some quick moves early to go from 4th to 2nd on the opening lap. Boyd would get by Ostendorf as they took lap-4 of the heat. Nickles and Gregg Keppel would battle for 3rd.
In the end it was Boyd, Ostendorf and Nickles your top 3.
40-Lap Feature
A pretty solid front row for your Rocking K Logisitcs Big Block 40-lap feature! Kurt Ney and Dylan DeWert Jr were on the front row to get things rockin. After the first 5-laps it was Ney still leading the way with Boyd in 2nd and DeWert in 3rd.
Richie Gaines would bring out the nights first caution. After making contact with the outside wall Gaines was just getting the car back to pit lane. Gaines pace on the backstretch was the reason for the yellow.
So we get to stack them back up and restart on lap-6. Ney and Boyd are 1 & 2 as the field is on a double filed restart. Ney with an awesome start but it was short lived. Adam Vinney got bumped from the back entering turn 1 by Chase Crowder to quickly bring caution #2.
Restart on lap-7 would have the field going single file. It was Ney, DeWert and Boyd your top 3 on the restart. Lap. Just a handful of laps later would we have a pretty simular issue with Chase Crowder once again getting into the back of the #11 of Adam Vinney bringing out another caution.
At the half way mark of the 40 lap would greet us with a caution. The #6 of Crowder would make contact with the #18 of Garman and cause him to spin out as the battled for 10th. On the restart it was still Ney out front with Boyd in 2nd, Buddy Ware and DeWert battling for 3rd. Garman would hit the backstretch wall on lap-23 bringing out another caution.
After a bit of a run, the field went back to a double file restart on lap-23. Ney again would get the start as DeWert and Boyd would battle for 2nd. Heartbreak for the #17 of Buddy Ware, after a pretty strong showing for most of the night. Ware would make slight contact with Greg Keppel as they battled for 5th. Eventhough the contact was slight, it upset the #17 as they entered turn 1. This would cause Ware to get a little too sideways leaving Ostendorf with no where to go. Contact between the two would bring out the caution on lap-28.
Restart with just over 12-laps to go would still have Ney out front. DeWert though would but on a charge and pull along side Ney as we closed in on less than 10 to go. Boyd, Kepp and Morano would battle for 3rd, as Ney and DeWert would battle for the lead. Lap-33 we would have a new leader as DeWert would take the lead from Ney as Boyd settled into 3rd.
Ney, DeWert and Morano would all be working the bottom side of the track. Boyd would be about the only one working the high side of the track. On the white flag lap it would pay off for Boyd. Some contact between DeWert and Morano would open up the door for Boyd to move into 2nd. Ney was able to get back up front and lead the last handful of laps to pick up the win. Boyd would finish up in 2nd, DeWert in 3rd.
