DSRL’s Monday Night Thunder Jess & Jim’s Steakhouse 360 Sprints were in action for Rd #4 from Lernerville Speedway. Lernerville Speedway is a 4/10-mile clay racetrack located in Sarver, PA. The first order of business was Qualifying! That’s right, no random draw for starting positions this week. Chris Sabescay would be your QuickTime Winner with a 13.201. Anthony Morano would be 2nd quick with a 13.224. Pretty much the whole top 10 was seperated by .10 of a second.
Heat #1
Sabescay and Scott Thomason would lead the first heat to green. A total of 10 drivers racing for the top 4 spots and a direct transfer to the feature. Sabescay would get the jump and look to take off early. Thomason settled into 2nd with Mike Watson and Scott King in tow. At the end Lap-4, Watson, King, Matt Grimm, Ryan Scheidt and Craig Silby all were fighting for 3rd-7th. Larry Moody got a little sideways in 3 and 4, with his momentum broken it didn’t leave any where for Jacob Schmutz to go. At the sametime Watson and Thomason would come together in turn 2, just a head of King. Grim would also get collected in all of this. But the caution would go to Rory Collins as he self-spun in turn 1! Sabesescay would restart with the lead on lap 6 and go onto win heat #1. Scheidt would finish 2nd, King 3rd and Watson 4th.
Heat #2
Anthony Morano would start P1 in heat #2 and jump out to the early lead. Mason Hannagan would run 2nd for most of the race. Alec Serzynski was running 3rd but went over the edge of turn 2 on lap 4. Rylan Gray was running 4th before meeting the same fate as Serzynski and went off in turn 2. Hannagan make a few attempts to get by Morano for the lead. But Morano held on to pick up the win. Hannagan 2nd, Ross Korynta 3rd and Garrett Boyd 4th.
Heat #3
Taylor Wineland was your Heat 3 Polesitter. Opening laps, Trevor Royer, Chad Griggs, Ernie Williams Jr and Nathan Davis all were in a battle for 3rd. Griggs would fall victim to turn 2 and go over while running 3rd on the last lap. At the end it was Wineland, Williams, Royer, Davis your top 4.
B-Main #1
Craig Silby and Rylan Gray lead the start of the 1st B-Main. On lap-3 Larry Moody, Johnathon White and Dean Reynolds would all come together on the backstretch. Reyonlds would get sent off the banking. Entering turn 3, White would make contact with Alc Serzynski pushing him up the hill into Moody. The damage would cause both Serzynski and Moody to retire from the race. Your 5 tranfers were Silby, Gray, Grimm, White and Roman Gephart.
B-Main #2
Scott Thomason would get the jump from the outside, he would lead the first few laps of B-Main #2. Jesse Bandy would take over the lead on lap-3. Griggs started in the 6th position and would work his way to lead by lap-9. At the end it was Griggs, Bandy, York, Schumtz and Collins making into the feature.
35-Lap Feature
Sabescay and Morano would lead the 22 driver field for 35-laps! The first caution of the night would come out on the end of lap 1. Garrett Boyd would make contact with Scott King and send him up the track in the middle of 3 and 4. This would have King facing the wrong way on the top side of the track. Mike Watson, Nathan Davis and Chad Griggs would all be collected. Trevor Royer would also recieve some damage after contact with Boyd.
Hannagan would work the bottom side of the track and chip his way towards the front. Morano would go over the berm in 3 and 4 wide running in the 3rd spot on lap-4. Royer would do the same thing a few laps later. York also would slide off the top in 1 and 2 on lap 8 and he would retire from the race. We have a theme going here…..Griggs would go over in 3 and 4 but get the #27 car upside down and bring out the caution on lap-10.
On the restart is was still Sabescay out front, with Hannagan in 2nd, Scheidt 3rd and Williams 4th. Hannagan would take over the lead on lap-13 and start pulling away from the field. Williams and Sabescay had a nice battle for 2nd. Williams would get the right rear over the berm in 3 and 4 and make contact with the front stretch wall. The contact would break the right front of the #91 ending his night !
Lap-31, Rylan Gray would go over in 3 and 4, bringing out the 2nd caution. He was running in the 5th position at the time. On the restart it was Hannagan, Scheidt, Wineland, Grimm and Bandy your top 5. That is also how your 35-lap feature would end.
Your Top 5 after the 30-lap feature:
1) Mason Hannagan
2) Ryan Scheidt
3) Tayler Wineland
4) Matt Grimm
5) Jesse Bandy
Tonight’s Hard Charger: Roman Gephart +14
