The Winged 360s from Williams Grove Speedway was the 2nd show of the night for DSRL. With 23 drivers once again loading into the server, all battling for 22 spots in the 35-Lap feature. This would be the 3rd round of the season, Roger through the boys a little curve ball this week. In the first two rounds of the season the heats have been set with a iRacing random draw for your starting position. A small technical hiccup had the drivers set to qualify. Mason Hannagan would take advantage and set QuickTime with a 17.556 sec lap around the famous half mile. Chad Griggs was extremely close, .002 of a second off Hannagan’s lap with a 17.548. Last week’s winner Ernie Williams Jr was third with 17.634, just .045 seconds off Pole.
Heat #1
After setting QuickTime, Hannagan would lead the field to green and go on to lead all 8-laps of the heat. Lots of action behind Hannagan as 8 drivers battled for 4 spots and a direct transfer into the feature. Chris Sabescay started in 3rd and quickly got into 2nd place. Anthony Morano fell back to 3rd after starting 2nd. Scott King and Scott Thomason flipped spots with Thomason getting the final transfer spot over King.
Heat #2
Chad Griggs started heat 2 on the pole and would lead the opening lap. A little contact with Alec Serzynski would cause Griggs to fall back a few spots. Serzynski would have to regroup after the contact and get his car off the turn 4 wall. With the that going on it opened up the door for Brett Stricker to go from 4th to lead at the end of lap 2. Trevor Royer, Griggs and Serzynski would battle it out for 2nd place. At the end of the 8-lap heat it was Strickler, Serzynski, Royer with Griggs getting the final transfer.
Heat #3
The 3rd and final heat of the night was pretty stacked! Last week’s winner, Ernie Williams Jr starting on pole. Ryan Scheidt, Tyler Schell and Ross Korynta were your starting 4. Williams and Scheidt would work the top side of the track as Schell was doing some cat fishing down low. Williams, Scheidt and Schell would put on a show as the 3 of them would all battle for the lead position. Schell would through a slider on the last lap and pass Williams coming out of turn 4. Williams would finish 2nd, Scheidt in 3rd and Korynta picking up the final transfer spot.
B-Main
Scott King and Craig Silby would start 1 and 2 as 11 drivers battle for 10 spots. King would get the start and lead the first handful of laps. Patrick Spangler would pass King on lap-3 and go onto win the 12-lap B-Main. Larry Moody started 5th and worked his way into 3rd. Dakota Kuhn was the driver on the move, after starting 10th worked his way into 4th. Silby would finish the B-Main in 5th.
Feature
After winning the opening heat race, Hannagan would start on pole and lead the way as 22 driver were off for 35-laps. Strickler and Sabescay were running the top as Hannagan and Schell worked the bottom side. Schell would make the move from 3rd to 1st on lap 3 as he continued to run the bottom. Hannagan would regain the lead on lap 6. Williams and Royer had a nice little battle as they ran 5th and 6th. Then Scheidt and Serzynski joined the party and these 4 drivers battled it out for 4th-7th. Morano and Korynta would close in on this group around lap-7 as well. Some really awesome racing mid pack as you could throw a blanket over those 8 drivers. Sometime going 3-4 wide on a pretty technical Williams Grove Speedway.
10-laps down of the 35-lap feature, Hannagan is your leader, with Schell 2nd, Stricker and Royer battling for 3rd and 4th. Hannagan would miss the bottom in 3 and 4th and Schell would take advantage and take over the #1 spot at the end of lap-12.
It was a pretty good run, the first caution of the 35-lap feature came out on lap-26. Birthday Boy, Cody Terry and Rory Collins would come together in turn 1. Both cars would spin out, Terry would retire from the race. Collins would have to wait for the field to pass before getting back going.
On the restart, it was Schell with everyone else single file behind him. Hannagan, Royer, Strickler and Serzynski was your top 5. Schell would come off the bottom just enough and Hannagan saw an opening and put his car in there. This would bump Schell up the track and putting him back to the 6th position on lap28. That would move Royer into 2nd leaving Serzynski, Strickler, Sabescay and Schell to battle it out for 3rd. Serzynski would make contact with Schell on lap-29 causing Schell to come to stop on the bottom of turn 2.
Rack them back up one more time! Hannagan, Royer, Serzynski, Strickler and Sabescay were your top 5 on the restart. Serzynski, Sabescay, Korynta, Williams and Stricklet all fighting for 3rd. As the field took the final lap, Korynta would make contact with Serzynski causing Serzynski to be sideways in the middle of 1 and 2. Griggs had no where to go and gets collected. Larry Moody, Garrett Boyd, Jesse Bandy and Scott Thomason….all had to checkup or got collected. With this all happening on the White Flag lap, no caution. Williams would capitalize on this and move into 3rd.
